How to make Vegan Mac and Cheese ?

Ingredients for Vegan Mac and Cheese

# Ingredients
1. 1 pound of elbow macaroni
2. 2 tablespoons of oil
3. 2 cloves of garlic, minced
4. 3 tablespoons of flour
5. 2 cups of unsweetened plant-based milk
6. 1 cup of nutritional yeast
7. 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
8. 1 teaspoon of turmeric
9. 1 teaspoon of onion powder
10. 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
11. Salt and pepper, to taste
12. 1 cup of breadcrumbs (optional)

Steps of Vegan Mac and Cheese

# Steps
1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
3. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.
4. Gradually add the plant-based milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
5. Stir in the nutritional yeast, Dijon mustard, turmeric, onion powder, and garlic powder. Cook until the sauce is thick and creamy, about 5-7 minutes.
6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
7. In a large baking dish, combine the cooked macaroni and sauce. Mix well to combine.
8. (Optional) Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top of the macaroni and cheese.
9. Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden and crispy.
10. Serve and enjoy!
