4. 1/4 cup cold water
5. 1/4 tsp salt

8. 1/2 cup brown sugar
9. 1/2 tsp cinnamon
10. 1/4 tsp nutmeg
11. 1/4 tsp salt
12. 1 tbsp lemon juice
13. 1 tbsp cornstarch

15. 2 tbsp maple syrup
16. 2 tbsp water

Steps of Vegan Apple Tart Recipe

# Steps
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Add in the vegan butter and use a pastry cutter or your hands to combine until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
3. Add in the cold water and mix until a dough forms.
4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Carefully transfer the dough to a 9-inch tart pan and trim off any excess dough. Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork.
5. In a separate bowl, mix together the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss until the apples are well-coated.
6. Arrange the apple slices on top of the crust in a circular pattern, starting from the outside and working your way in.
7. Bake the tart for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are soft.
8. While the tart is baking, make the glaze by mixing together the maple syrup and water in a small bowl.
9. When the tart is done baking, remove it from the oven and brush the glaze over the top.
10. Let the tart cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Tips:
  • You can use any type of apple for this recipe, but we recommend using a tart variety like Granny Smith for the best flavor.
  • If you don't have a tart pan, you can use a pie dish instead.
  • For an extra crispy crust, you can blind bake the crust for 10-15 minutes before adding the filling.
