Ingredients for Dal Baati Recipe

Ingredients
For Dal:
1/2 cup split green gram (moong dal)
1/4 cup split black gram (skinless) (urad dal)
1/2 cup split bengal gram (chana dal)
1/4 cup split pigeon (Toovar dal)
3 tbsp ghee
3 cloves
1 inch cinnamon stick
2 bay leaves
2 whole dry red chillies
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 tbsp garlic paste
1 inch ginger, chopped
1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp red chilli powder
1/2 tbsp garam masala powder
1/2 tbsp cumin- coriander powder
1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
1/4 tbsp asafoetida
fresh green coriander, chopped
For Baati:
1/2 cup coarse whole wheat flour
1/4 cup semolina
1 tbsp Carom seeds
4 tbsp ghee
Salt to taste
1/2 cup ghee to soak the baati

Steps of Dal Baati Recipe

# Steps
1. Wash and Soak all the dal for an half an hour. Pressure cook dal with 4 cup water, salt and turmeric powder up to three whistle or till completely cook.
2. Heat the ghee in a deep pan and add cumin seeds. When seeds crackle add cloves, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, dry red chilli, asafoetida.
3. Add onion, ginger and garlic paste and cook for four minutes. Add tomatoes, red chilli powder, coriander- cumin powder, garam masala powder, salt and saute for two minutes.
4. Add boiled dal and mix well and blend it. Add little water to adjust the consistency of dal. (Dal is thick for Dal baati)
5. Cook it for five minutes while stirring occasionally. Add coriander leaves and mix well and keep aside.
6. For baati mix all the ingredient in a bowl and knead into a semi stiff dough using water. Preheat oven to 180°C.
7. Divide dough into eight equal portion and roll into a round ball. Grease the baking tray and place baati and press them little.
8. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake it at 180°C till it done. Or you can use baati tandoor to cook the baati.
9. When baati done. Brake it into pieces in the bowl and add ghee over baatis and soak them and serve hot.
