1. 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
2. 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
3. 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
4. 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
5. 2 cloves garlic, minced
6. 1 tsp ground cumin
7. 1 tsp smoked paprika
8. 1/2 tsp chili powder
9. 1/4 tsp salt
10. 1/4 tsp black pepper
11. 1 flax egg (1 tbsp ground flaxseed mixed with 3 tbsp water)
12. 4 burger buns
13. Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, etc.)

# Steps
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until they're mostly mashed but still have some chunks.
3. Add the chopped onion, panko bread crumbs, cilantro, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and flax egg to the bowl with the black beans. Mix everything together until well combined.
4. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
5. Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
6. Bake the patties for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they're crispy and golden brown.
7. Serve the black bean patties on burger buns with your desired toppings.
Tips:
  • You can make the black bean patties ahead of time and freeze them for later use.
  • For added flavor, you can mix in some chipotle peppers or hot sauce to the patty mixture.
  • Leftover patties can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days, or frozen for up to two months.
