In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. |

Stir in the black beans, chili powder, and cumin. Cook until the beans are heated through, about 5 minutes. |

Season with salt and pepper to taste. |

To assemble the tacos, spread a spoonful of salsa on the bottom of each taco shell. |

Top with a spoonful of the black bean mixture, followed by a dollop of mashed avocado. |

Sprinkle shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and chopped cilantro on top. |
